American Canine Registry was started in early 2000 as a Registry for the sole purpose of registering  Rat Terriers.
Within a year the breeders of Rat Terriers registering with ACR asked us to expand as an all-breed registry.
ACR was only 1 of 2 registries at that time that placed Pedigrees on the Registration Certificates and was the ONLY registry which required a 7 generation purebred documented pedigree to dual register with them.

ACR has never accepted hardship registrations.
ACR has grown over the years and now registers all established breeds of dogs, contracts out Registration Services to a variety of Animal Clubs and will help breeders develop their own breeds through their Sister Registry APR (*American Pedigree Registry).
ACR has been privileged to be the Registry of Choice for the 2 most prominent Specialty Breeds in the United States being
the Harlequin Pinscher and the Biewer Yorkie.
